LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
OPPORTUNITIES
Applying the findings of The
Hospitality Leadership Excellence Survey, we offer courses
designed specifically for the needs of leaders at all
levels within the hospitality industry, namely:
- Team Leaders -
Employees who either currently
lead small teams, such as junior managers or supervisors within
restaurants, kitchens, reception or accommodation services, or
are seen as having the potential to take up such a
role.
- Operational Leaders - Middle managers to
whom team leaders report: perhaps heads of department; area
managers; or managers of medium-to-small units.
- Strategic Leaders - Those who have the
responsibility of shaping the strategic direction of an
organisation, or who are owners of their own
companies
These courses are unique,
challenging learning opportunities, designed for hospitality
leaders who 'aspire to
inspire' their staff to deliver exceptional
customer service and, as a result, drive their business
forward:
Team Leader
Training Course. A two-day course for junior
managers or supervisors who lead small teams, perhaps within
restaurants, kitchens, reception or accommodation services.
The course has been designed in association with The John
Adair Leadership Foundation, and is delivered by Adair accredited
trainers.
Undergraduate
Training Course. A two-day leadership training
course for universities to offer their hospitality undergraduates
in advance of their industrial placement or final graduation. It
can be delivered on consecutive days, separate days or over four
half days. As above, this course is also based on the principles of
The John Adair Leadership Foundation and is delivered by one of its
accredited trainers.
Team Leader
Audio Learning Programme. A training programme,
with a work book and six lively tutorials downloaded
from the internet or sent by post, for hospitality team
leaders who would prefer to be in control of their own
learning. Offering their staff the opportunity to study
at their own pace, in their own environments, this is also a
particularly cost-effective alternative for employers.
Leadership
Master Class. An intense, three-day
programme for operational leaders who are recognised as having the
potential to take up more senior, strategic roles within their
organisations. Suitable for middle managers, heads of department,
or managers of small units.
Support for Strategic
Leaders. It is our belief that the
training room may not be the most appropriate learning environment
for leaders who have progressed to hold a strategic role within
their organisations, yet even senior managers may benefit from
enhancing their leadership skills through contact and sharing with
others who have experienced similar challenges. Hence, our approach
to leadership development for strategic leaders is through Action
Learning Programmes and one-to-one mentoring with senior figures

Company Leadership
Retreats. The School of Hospitality
Leadership can design and deliver management 'away days' and
residential retreats to meet the leadership challenges facing
companies and organisations. Their content would be based on
the specific leadership needs of the managers attending and would
be designed and agreed with the organisation's senior management in
advance of the event.
